About Us

We are a woman owned specialty coffee shop located on the Northside of downtown Iowa City, right in the heart of the University of Iowa. Our youthful and vibrant shop was started by a local Iowan who fell in love with coffee through her time working as a barista.

Tru Coffee, established June 1st 2021, is named after owner Haley’s motherTrudi who passed away from pancreatic cancer about a month before Tru opened their doors. Tru is a multifaceted business that combines two passions, offering specialty coffee as well as a wide selection of vintage clothing.
